JP Test 2011 – Update

The confirmed date for this test will be April 29th to May 1st 2011.  The anticipated location will be at:

Flathead Pheasants, Santana, KS 67870   I am currently in contact with the owner and will be solidifying details for the test.  This location will be able to provide food and housing at the test location.  The owner promises a good population of Jack Rabbits and sometimes seeing up to “…20 in a field…” at a time.

We will need at least 5 to 6 dogs to test and hope to bring at least 1 VDW judge over from Germany.  Dave Pepe is currently working with the VDW to provide a variance for age.  We hope to be able to test dogs that are older than 18 months.

Please consider joining us!

PS…will post more details as they come available in the next week.

JP Test – Spring 2011

We are anticipating a spring test.  We need participants.  Please respond with interest.   We are still unsure of location but it will most likely be in western Kansas, Nebraska, or South Dakota.  We need a healthy population of Jack rabbits with room to run.  If you have any suggestions, please respond as well.

Thanks,

Dave Dyer

Blue Moon Kennels – Training Pups

Had a great squirrel sight drag and chase with the pups last night.

Brandi, Bree, and Bianka liked that game very much in fact so much that they were gassed and ready for a breather by the time the others figured out something with a new smell was sailing past them in the grass.  Once the rest got into it I was gassed!

My daughter side tracked them long enough for me to give them a short scent drag (8 feet) in the tall weeds.  I called them back and watched their reaction when they cut the drag trail, and what a riot it was.  They were going over and under one another trying to figure which way it went once they got going in the right direction Brandi had taken the lead located the squirrel grabbed it and took off!  I was able to slow her with a line to the squirrel so all pups were able to get bit of reward.

They are a kick!

The quail and rabbit will be pulled from the freezer and we will start working with those next.

For anyone interested we do have 2 males and 2 females still available.
